Dry James

1980 Mahogany Bay Stallion

Sire: Dry Doc X Collins Daisy by Jessie James

May 5, 1980 - November 6, 2013
A letter from Dale Gurney, Vermont. I am writing to share sad news. Dry was put down last Wednesday, the 6th of November. I feel so blessed to have had him for so many years, and he helped and spoiled me. Dry was always a stoic gentleman, till the end. He started to go down about a week ago and just got worse each day, so we made the decision as he was not comfortable. The vet thought maybe liver as his gums were yellow and he also had some neurological symptoms. He is a legend to us and a great horse. Temperament was always his strength and we have a son in Colorado and they say the same about his temperament. Dry was 33.5 years old almost to the day, born on May 5, 1980. Thank you so much for allowing me to have him. PHOTOS COURTESY OF MARTHA NEERINGS, LEHI, UTAH (previous owner of Dry James) Thank you, Martha.

Docs Sure Legacy

1990 Chestnut Stallion

Sire: Docs Adonis X Two Eyed Joan

End of the Trail, a letter from Ageya Nigada: It is with great sadness, and a very heavy heart, that I make it known that today (Nov. 2, 2013) I had to put down my wonderful stallion, Docs Sure Legacy. He was not a show champion, but he was my champion. I have never met a kinder, gentler, quieter, stallion in my life. He is the first and the last stud that I will ever trust. He never threatened me, he never had a bad day, he allowed anyone to pet or feed him and he taught a green teacher she could handle a breeding stallion even though she had never seen horses mating. He cost more than any of my cars, and he was worth every dime. I thank Nancy Petterson for letting me buy him. And for teaching him his wonderful manners. He gave me his best and we tried to take good care of him. This last founder was beyond remedy, added to being treated for heaves for almost 2 years, not picking weight up on weeks of beet pulp and soy meal twice a day, the 30 degree nights and the fact that he is almost 24 yrs. old, forced me to make sure he will not have a miserable winter or ever hurt again. He stays "home". He is buried in the upper corner of his pasture. It was the best I could do.

Sonny OO Buck

Sonnys Nightshade(Sonny Dee Bar) x Georgie Shasta (Shasta Music)

Sweet Sonny has brought much joy to our barn and we miss him very much. We have owned and loved him for 13 incredible years. Due to a long ago illness, he could no longer keep going and was put to rest, along with one of his aged brides, in a soft green meadow, to be running in even greener pastures now. He left a legacy of beautiful, talented horses that have enhanced the lives of many and one last foal crop in 2004!

Thank you Sonny for being a special part of our lives! We miss you!

Sonny was a 1982 AQHA Buckskin Incentive Fund Stallion that was AQHA Grand Champion and Western Pleasure Winner, IBHA Supreme Champion and 1985 IBHA Reserve High Point Halter Stallion. He has sired Outstanding Western Pleasure, Reining, Working cowhorse, IBHA Supreme Champion, Multiple ROM's and AQHA World Qualifiers.
